PowerPoint size limits

I want to make a slide show of 800 Microsoft one page WORD DOC files?
I want the digital slide show to display one slide at a time, of the cropped
image on that page, full screen.

Is there a limit on the number of slides in the PowerPoint 97 file?
Is there a limit to PowerPoint 97 file size.

Our Museum made a 100 Years of Powered Flight display. We would now like
to make a digital slide show of the DOC files we generated to make the
images. The
single page image is a one column, three row table. The
table size varies because of the table content. The DOC file size is also
varied because of Photograph bit count size. We cut out each of the
printed
tables and pasted them to make the existing physical display.

Before I do all that work, I need to know PowerPoint 97 file size limits and
its Slide show function limits. I need to know How to Properly Manage that
Many Slides.

I need the slide show operation to be automatic so that it is a continuous
display. The museum personnel are all volunteers who may or may not be
computer
users, therefore operation of the display must be almost fully automatic.
This slide show will never be sold or distributed because of copyright
limitations.

Or is there a better way?
