Powerpoint package for CD crunches letter

I am still looking for an answer on text becoming crunched together when I
package a Powerpoint show for a CD. I have tried checking the printer driver
and that's good. I have no strange fonts.

I have replaced the show that has gone through the packaging process with
one that has not, but it still crunches letters or sentences. The same show
will play flawlessly when not used as a self start. In fact I can click the
show alone that’s in the self start package and it plays fine, but if I let
it play from self start or click the start icon I get the problem. Any ideas?

This is an issue with PPT 2007 and how it performs the downlevel save so it
runs in the Viewer. There is no fix that I'm aware of.

The one workaround I know about is to find a system with PPT 2003 on it and
perform the Package for CD on it.

I'm sorry I don't have a better answer for you. Please don't shoot the
messenger. (I've spent way too many hours tracking down this issue and
trying to come up with workarounds. And I think it sucks that Package for CD
in 2007 does this.)

In that case, I would round-trip the file through HTML to clean out any
weirdness and then re-package.

Here's info on round-tripping:
