Getting Movies to Play in PowerPoint Viewer/Package Presention

D

Dan L.

I “Packaged" a presentation for CD†(bundling the viewer with appropriate
files – including a Movie/Video). As long as I play the “Package†(using the
Viewer) on my laptop (which also contains full PowerPoint 2003), the
Movie/Video works.

However, when I take the very same package (on a CD) to another computer
which has also the Viewer (but not the full version of PowerPoint 2003) the
presentation itself plays perfectly - - - except for the movie !!

I have inserted the movie in two versions (both to start automatically and
with a click) and neither works.

HELP!

And THANKS!

move the presentation to a folder with a short path. (Example "C:\Test")

delete the video from the presentation.

move a copy of the video to the same folder (C:\Test)

Reinsert the video in this folder the presentation.

copy ALL contents of the folder to the root of the CD.

Should be good to go.

Austin,

Just saw your post/response. Many thanks!

Seems like the key is shortening the path. Makes sense that that might work.

Doesn't seem like you should HAVE to do that - - - but it makes sense,
none-the-less. I will cerainly give it a shot (although I won't be able to
get to it for while.)

But, truly, thanks again. If it works, it will be a big help in a project
that's very important to me.

I have an issue at the moment with PowerPoint viewer 2010. I create many PowerPoint presentations (multi-media quiz nights) which are given to venues on a laptop for them to run pub quiz nights.

All presentations are created on an iMac using PowerPoint for mac. I insert all media files correctly into a separate folder, link to all media, then save (simple enough). I then save this (not package it) to an external hard drive, then copy it to a windows based laptop, which has Office 2010 loaded. I then open the PowerPoint, re-link all the media files, save, then package to CD back onto a flash drive.

The issue then is running this PowerPoint on PowerPoint viewer 2010 - some movies have worked, but all other audio and video doesn't and I am at my wits end as to how to get this to work.

The presentation works fine on laptops with the full version of Office 2010 (which supports quicktime, mp3 and mp4) but not on viewer. Any tips to help me solve this issue without having to waste a lot of unnecessary cash buying Office 2010 for each of my 20 laptops which I send the presentation out on?

Many thanks
Mr G
