Powerpoint drag & drop and auto-resize!

I have a presentation that my son was working on for me. He would drag and
drop the Jpeg files into the box(the jpegs are 10 mega pixel) Of course they
are too large and he would spend about 5 minutes resizing them. I have about
40 slides with effects in the presentation, but want to add 30 more, but
don't want to have to resize each one of them.

There has got to be some way to pull from a folder and drag and drop jpeg
files into a slide and have them be resized to fit the frame??!!!

I know you can start fresh and select Insert, then picture and then new
photo album, select all the pictures from a folder and it will create a new
Album and all the pictures are formatted to the correct size.

My dilemma is when you need to add quite a few more slides to an existing
album there has to be a simple way you can drag and drop and then have it
automatically resize to the frame!

I know you can double click on a picture and a menu box with tabs comes up.
You can select the Size Tab, then there are three boxes you can check that
say:

Lock Aspect Ratio
Relative to original picture
Best Scale for Slide show

I guess another option is resizing the pictures before you drag and drop,
but that's a pain again!

And they do little to help me in my plight!

HELP!

I missed something, because they really don't fit my problem. I want to drag
and drop one large 10 megapixel picture into the slide frame of an existing
presentation, and be able to exectue some command of format the picture where
it will automatically fit the frame instead of spending 5 minutes to resize
the picture manually.

Do you want the pictures to be the same size, or do you want them to be
different sizes? If the pictures need to be the same size, you could
select one picture and record a macro while you are adjusting the size.
If you want them to be the exact right size to fill the slide, you can
use the code in Luc's first link to insert a whole bunch of pictures that
are in the same folder as your PowerPoint presentation, but it won't help
you with Drag and Drop.

First thing: you don't want to do that. Instead of drag/drop, use Insert,
Picture, From File. Your PPT files will be much smaller, as a rule.

Next, use something like the free IrfanView (www.irfanview.com) to batch
downsize the images to something more appropriate to a PPT show. You generally
don't need the images to be any bigger than 1024x768 pixels.

Finally:

BATCH IMPORT images into PowerPoint

David, while I'm not much into macros or programming! With a little effort I
was able to record a macro and it will do as you said! I still think
Microsoft should have a button or command that will resize large or small
pictures so they will automatically fit the frame on the fly.

You can create a new photo album and import many slides and it will resize
all the photo's you select very handily. The problem is when you have a
project started and want to update or add pictures. I can live with the macro
fix, but it should be easier! Thanks for your advice!

Steve, what about a photo that is taller than wide. In other words you took
the shot with the camera side ways. Is there any way to fill the side voids.
I know you can stretch the photo. but it will be distorted. Can you blot out
the side margins some way!

As in make them black? Draw a rectangle on the slide, set its fill to black, use
Draw, Order, Send to back.
