PowerPoint can't locate Microsoft Word

Using PP 2002 in Windows XP.

I've successfully sent slides and notes to MS Word 2002 in the past. But
this time when I try to use "File/Send to" I get an error message that says:
"PowerPoint can't locate Microsoft Word. Make sure that MS Word is properly
installed on your computer".

I believe the problem arises from the fact that a month ago I temporarily
installed Office 2007 and because I did not like it I uninstalled it. My
pre-existing Office 2002 installation has continued to work fine after that
and still does until now when I just got this PP error. How do I resolve
this? I suppose I could re-install Office 2002 but I would hate to lose all
my customizations and changes over the year. Is there another way to let PP
know how to find Word?

Thanks.

No, I tried that: having Word open ad trying to send to. I get the same
error message.

I'll check out the re-registering of Word in the link below.

Thanks.

Not sure what that is, but will explore it.

Someone suggested running winword /r. Will try that too.

Merci Jean-Pierre. Your suggestions worked for me and now all is well. I
never knew about the "Detect and repair" option

Before trying it I tried winword /r and that did not solve the problem and I
think I know why. Maybe you can help.

The only Office apps I use are those from my Office XP Pro (which I believe
is office 2002). In trying to figure out what was wrong on my computer I
searched and found that in my
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office" folder I have the following folders,
which make no sense:
Media, Templates, and Office 10
** BUT also folders for Office11 and Office12 !!

The Office11 folder contains empty folders except for:
- a "addins" folder which just contains the file TosOlkN.ecf
- a "1033" folder that contains only the file setup.chm

The Office12 folder contins several files (Wordconv.exe, etc.) but none that
are "winword.exe", etc.

I am not sure how these folders and files got here. They appear to be left
overs. I believe this laptop came with trial versions of later Office suites
that I had uninstalled but left residues and are what are now messing me up.

I then went to Control Panel\Add-Remove applications and found that it had
listed as installed programs:
- MS Office XP Professional - 145 MB
- MS Office XP Professional with Frontpage - 214 MB

I do not understand why there would be 2 (!) installations and which one is
the correct one to keep. I do not recall using Frontpage (though I may have
once tried it) but find I have a folder called
C:\Program Files\microsoft frontpage
which contains a folder called "version3.0" which itself contains an empty
"bin" folder.

Must be left overs!! ?

Since things are working correctly it might be safer to leave everything
alone, but this sure is confusing and it looks like I may have several
redundent installations that left residual files behind after their
uninstallations.

Any advice?

Thanks.

Jeff
