Powerpoint and Producer add-in alternatives / futures

Can anyone advise me as to what Microsoft products I should be looking at as
an alternative to using Powerpoint and the Producer add-in to produce
multimedia presentations (slides, audio and video content)?

Or, will Producer be updated to work with Powerpoint 2007?

AFAIK there are no current or planned *Microsoft* products that do a job
similar to what Producer does (unless you stick with PPT 2002 or 2003).

Or, will Producer be updated to work with Powerpoint 2007?

It will not be updated.
