PowerDVD won't work

I can't get PowerDVD version 6 to load. When I click on it, the UI doesn't
show up and PowerDVD.exe shows up on the Processes tab of Task Manager. The
install CD was bundled with my graphics card. I have uninstalled and
reinstalled several times to no avail. This program worked fine until I
tried to watch a DVD with an Interactual Player installer on it. The DVD was
in .UDF format, I now know that PowerDVD doesn't support that type of DVD.
Is this a codec problem? Thanks.

Mayeb the free VLC Media Player would
be worth a try:

Also...it may be worth a try to do a System
Restore to a time before this issue began.

Thanks for the reply! I have 3 programs that can play DVD's: PowerDVD 6,
Nero Showtime 2 and WMP11. I got that particular DVD to play using WMP11. I
would like to know what killed my copy of PowerDVD and how I can fix it. I
think PowerDVD could produce Dolby surround, which is why I prefer it to the
other 2 programs. It sounds great on my Klipsch Promedia's. I'll try a
system restore.

Sounds like Interactual Player may what hosed your PowerDVD...
since I have no idea what the conflict between the two apps may
be that's why I suggested trying a system restore.

If you try it...let us know the result.

I tried to restore to the day I tried to watch that DVD, and the day before.
Both attempts failed. When I put that DVD in, an Interactual Player window
pops up. It gives 3 options: Install, Cancel installation, and View license.
I chose Cancel installation. Interactual Player is not installed on my PC.
I uninstalled PowerDVD and used CCleaner to get it out of the registry. I
appreciate the help.

It failed to restore the system or it did restore
the system and just did not clear up the issue?

If it failed to restore the system...try running it
in Safe Mode.

After I set the "Restore to" date and windows restarted, a system restore
window came up saying it failed to restore to the specified date and no
changes have been made to my system. I'll try a system restore in safe mode,
as well as trying to re-install and run PowerDVD in safe mode. BTW, I am
running XP Pro SP3. Thanks again for the help.

Hi lrh381b2,

While you wait on fixing PowerDVD, try VLC. It plays almost
anything. It is open source and free. I use it all the time:
