Safe to use Win 98 and even Win 95 power toys in XP Home?
Would like to have send to (any folder) and other options.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

There is an XP Power Toys in the MS web site. Not sure offhand if it still
has these features, but probably does.

It doesn't but there's a workaround. Sorry, don't have the workaround link
handy.

The SendTo power toy can have some messed up effects in Windows XP.

Many thanks, Shenan. I've D/L'ed it just now and will install.

Also thanks for the warning about XP, using the, I think it was, Win 95
PT's.

W95 Power Toys including Send To works perfectly and without any issues on my W2K3 Server w\SP2. It should also then work on XP

Try this one:

Send To Toys 2.5

Or, just select Start | Run, type "sendto" (no quotes), and click OK.

This opens the special SendTo folder. Add or delete any shortcuts you
like. I think you may have to reboot for the changes to be effective,
but I'm not sure about that.

In Windows XP - something goes awry and you may start getting 'where do you
want to move to' messages when you were moving nothing.

The options Copy To Folder and Move To Folder are natively available in XP
(except from the Desktop). From any explorer window just select a file or
folder and from the explorer windows's menu click "Edit". You then choose
Copy To or Move To.

Thanks Shenan. Presumed that it works without any issues on Xp like on my W2K3. Since this server is on a higher version number than XP you tend to lean that way.

Also on my test machine that I had the Vista Beta installed this little Send To option from the W95 tools worked without issues also. But the other Toys from the W95 pack did not. I do not have the Beta on there anymore and I do not have the Vista at all I am not able to confirm this on the final release.

Good tip, Stan. You mean just add any destination as a text file, e.g.,
"Folder"?

You can also add "send to" and "move to" icons to the tool bar by right
clicking in the tool bar and choosing customize.

Yes. My favorites are SendTo, Dos Here and Ninotech's Path Copy. The
latter is invaluable! http://home.worldonline.dk/ninotech/freeutil.htm
(bottom entry) I can't tell you how many times a day i use path copy
for everything from editing mp3's to renaming files etc. The rest of
the powertoys are kind of old and fell out of favor or are a redundant
addition to XP.

I've never seen them. Like what?
