Power Standby Does Not Work

I am running Windows XP Professional Media Edition on an HP Media Center
PC m1160n. I had tech support from HP to get my scanner HP Scanjet 4070
working properly. This was accomplished. In this process the
net.framework, or whatever is called, was removed through Add/Remove. This
caused me to have to start windows through HP_Administrator every time. I am
not using a "Guest" account. The power options were showing, but, not
working (standby in 10 minutes, etc). Then I let Windows Update install
net.framework. Now Windows starts up okay without recourse to
HP_Administrator, the power options are showing, but still not working. I
have access to HP_Administrator through "Safe Mode." No better.
Any ideas? Thanks.

Chris.

Hi,

Most likely the drivers that were installed for the scanner do not properly
support the reduced power modes. Unless HP can supply ones that do, you may
not be able to regain those functions.

One other thing to check is if you changed any BIOS power management
settings while troubleshooting the scanner installation. If it is enabled in
the BIOS, you may want to try disabling it and allowing just Windows PM.
