My little boy deleted all the power scheme under power
management. there are no schemes left and the hhd and vdu
times etc are no longer active. This means i can not
create a new scheme and the save as button does nothing.
How can i create a new power scheme from scratch.

I am using MS Windows XP pro

Thanks

To create a new power scheme

1.. Open Power Options in Control Panel.
2.. In the Turn off monitor, Turn off hard disks, System standby, and
System hibernates lists on the Power Schemes tab, select the time settings
you want.
3.. Under Power Schemes, click Save As, and then type a name for the power
scheme. The new scheme is added to the Power Schemes list.
a.. To open Power Options, click Start, click Control Panel, click
Performance and Maintenance, and then click Power Options.
b.. To delete a power scheme, select it, and then click Delete.
c.. Using Power Options in Control Panel, you can adjust any power
management option that your computer's unique hardware configuration
supports. Because these options may vary widely from computer to computer,
the options described may differ from what you see. Power Options
automatically detects what is available on your computer and shows you only
the options that you can control.
let me know if this helps

I have the same problem as Russell, all of the power
schemes have been deleted.

Thanks for the reply, Kelly, but your solution does not
help, because all of those dropdowns are greyed out. I
cannot select any values for them, and the Save As button
does nothing.

Please help!!

I'm experiencing the same problems too. I'm not sure if its a virus or what. Same like y'all, everything was working fine for awhile and all of sudden, just noticed everything is greyed out and can't alter anything. Yes, please help anyone.
