Power Point presentation using Dell Projector

Linda

Problem: When using the remote control (for the Dell 2100
MP Projector) to advance a screen in the Power Point
presentation, it doesn't advance one screen - it advances
extremely fast (approximately 5 screens per second)
through each and every screen, all the way to the end of
the file.

It is not as simple as holding down the advance screen
button too long, or accidently pushing another button on
the remote. We have tried to use the remote with Power
Point many times, being aware of what button is being
pushed, and it continues to advance the entire
presentation every time.

Is there a setting or tool for a remote control in Power
Point that we haven't found?

The Dell system is very straightforward, no settings for
speed or number of advances with the remote.

Linda,

Could you tell us more about the remote control.

Like...is it controlling the projector

or

the computer that powerpoint is running on?

The remote is for the Dell Projector. It has an "advance
screen" button so that you can go through your power point
presentation manually when it is not a timed slide show.

The screens DO advance one at a time when I use the arrow
key on the laptop. It is only when I try to use the
projector's remote that it "freaks out" and goes into
advance screen "fastforward" at near hyperspeed. Very
frustrating.

I've put in a service request through Dell regarding the
projector/remote. But, I'm not ruling out the fact that I
do not know alot about PP.... so it could something as
simple as a PP setting.

In the meantime, I'm wondering if anyone else has run
across this issue? If so, how did youhandle it?

Linda,

Unless your dell projector is somehow talking to your laptop then I can't
see how it can control a powerpoint presentation on a computer.

If the projector has a feature to capture a presentation....so that it
resides in the projector...then maybe the remote will do as it's told. But
it's not powerpoint!

TAJ, I think this is where you hook up the mouse port to the projector. The
projector becomes a wireless mouse, which is rather convenient if you don't
already have one.

I've never used that feature, but it seems like the mouse settings in
Control Panel need tweaked, especially if the projector/mouse has its own
controls.

Linda,

The projector connects to the computer via a usb cable to enable mous
capabilities on the remote. You do have it connected via a usb cabl
right?

Just so you don't think you're crazy, I'm experiencing this exact same
problem, and it's happened on two different laptops now. Hope someone
or Dell can find a fix soon.
