power options "turn off monitor" - monitor keeps coming back on

Hi,

I have set my power options / turn off monitor to 1 minute and every
minute the monitor goes off. But then it wakes back up again straight
away. Stays on for a minute then turns off, then back on ad nauseum.

I have few applications running - IE7, MSN Messenger 7.5, Gmail
Notifier.

These are the processes running;

CCAPP.EXE
CCEVTMGR.EXE (2 instances)
CRAUTO.EXE
CSRSS.EXE
CTFMON.EXE
EXPLORER.EXE
GNOTIFY.EXE
IEXPLORE.EXE
INETINFO.EXE
LSASS.EXE
LVCOMSX.EXE
MDM.EXE
MSNMSGR.EXE
MSPMSPSV.EXE
NAVAPSVC.EXE
NPFMNTOR.EXE
SERVICES.EXE
SLSERV.EXE
SMC.EXE
SMSS.EXE
SNDSRVC.EXE
SPBBCSVC.EXE
SPOOLSV.EXE
SQLMANGR.EXE
SVCHOST.EXE (6 instances)
SYMLCSVC.EXE
SYSTEM
WDFMGR.EXE
WINLOGON.EXE

I cannot work out why the monitor goes to sleep as told but then wakes
up immediately after. It is driving me crazy.

Can anybody help?

Thanks,

Richy

Yeah did all that and it still did it.

I found what was causing it eventually through trial and error - I had
recently set my desktop wallpaper to a jpg on a mountable drive which
had since been unmounted. Despite the drive not being there, Windows
displayed the wallpaper fine. BUT it stuffs up the power options for
some reason. I have copied the image from the drive to the hard drive
and set the wallpaper from there, and now everything is fine.

Windows is a strange beast...
