click the Start Button, then
click the Control Panel. Then, click User Accounts in
the Control Panel. Select your account
name, and then on the left side of the screen, under
Related Tasks, click 'Manage my Network
Passwords'. In the window that opens, click the
Passport.Net\* (Passport) entry and click
'Remove'.

Jonathan this Passport.Net\* account maybe the problem so
many people including me are unable to logon to MSN, XP
is by default supplying a wrong password perhaps,
removing this one using steps mentioned as above solves
the wrong password unable to logon issue (it is not a
firewall, date time, security level settings or service
status issue, just a new bug cropped from XP updates
perhaps).. JJ.

Greetings Jim,

I don't think this is the problem -- because they still
would be able to just type in their
real login/password and be able to login.

They (including me were not able to) even if one manually
types in the login & password again & again, that is the
bug! the point is that inspite of manually typing in a
password, the Passport.Net\* (Passport) entry seems to be
supplying a default/wrong password, just removing that
entry and manually logging into MSN next time solved the
problem here completely. Please don't rule this solution
out without reproducing the conditions and testing this
out your self..JJ.
