popups not working

Popups are not working on my HP NX9010 Notebook - ad running Windows XP Pro
with SP2 andthe latest patches.

I have enabled popups under the privacy tab of the IE options and verified
that they are ebabled in eth registry.

What happens is that the popup window opens, but that data is blank and an
hourglass appears.

Thanks for an help.

You are - or your blocking software is - blocking the content in the pop-up.

Do you really want to see pop-ups? I mean, there's nothing wrong with that,
but many (if not most) people hate pop-ups.

OTOH, if there's a particular pop-up that you want to see while blocking all
others, that's easy to arrange. Post back for EZ instructions.

Folks,

The problem is that I want to ENABLE popups but am unable to do so. When I
enable them, the popup window come sup with no content. I don't need people
telling me that popups are bad and I don't need to be told how to disable
them.

It sounds like you've got IE configured properly, and it's something else
blocking them. Have you got any other software installed that might block
popups or scripts (maybe these popups use Javascript), such as ZoneAlarm,
Norton/Symantec Security, etc.

If it comes up with no content check your HOSTS file.

Press Ctrl-N to clone the page in a new window which gives you
some control and then use View Source on the clone.
Is the HTML really blank or do you see some img tags in it?
Try opening individual URLs indicated by those src= attributes.
What happens with those accesses?

Give an example of a publicly accessible site which is causing these
blank popups if you need more help.

Thanks for an help.
