Popup Windows Pop Up then disappear after a few seconds

Oren D. Eisner

Hi.
I'm running WinXP SP2 and IE 6.0.

Recently, a new condition has presented itself on my machine. When I
click on a legitimate pop-up window, the pop-up comes up for about 1
second, then closes. This happens with the IE pop-up blocker enabled
or disabled. Sometimes I see a javascript error but there are also
times when I get no indication of a problem.

This happens with pop-up like when visiting some shopping site and
there is a "click for larger image" type link. (E.g. buy.com product
selection).

This just started happening ... which leaves me baffled. I've reset
all IE settings to default values ... no change.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First eliminate any spyware.

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated with the program's update function
before every use, even when just downloaded. There's also a lot more to do
than just those two programs. CWShredder is also available here:

Hi Frank,
Well, I tried just about every anti-spyware / malware approach you suggested
in the previous posting including posting to forums.spywareinfo.com. I have
not yet had and success and for some reason no one has replied to my post to
the other forum. (I expect that my topic just doesn't sound interesting
enough).

I could really use any additional help or suggestions you may provide This
problem is quite serious and greatly limits my ability to use IE. If there
are additional tests that you can suggest, procedures to follow, or log files
that you would like me to post, I'm ready and willing. I thought of
re-installing IE but that proves to be a little more difficult than I thought.

PLEASE help me!

I've been having exactly the same problem.

This most recent response was 2 weeks ago.

Any progress or additional suggestions.

None of the suggestions in related postings seem to work.
