Pop ups

I have this nasty popup that occurs when I close down IE 6 and click the
disconnect now from my dial-up. After I close the connection I get a couple
popups and they reconnect to the web. Where do these hide? I scanned the
drives with Ad aware and it found nothing. I emptied the temp folder,
cleared the history and deleted all the cookies. What else could I try?
Thanks.

There's more than Ad-Aware to try.
See
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware, Parasites, Toolbars and Search Engines
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
CWShredder is also available here:

**Post your HijackThis log to
http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ or the Spyware forum at
http://forum.aumha.org/ for expert analysis, not here.**
Alternative download pages for Ad-Aware, Spybot, HijackThis and CWShredder
may be found on this page:
http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm.
If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.

Thanks all. I tried almost all of what everyone said. Updated Ad aware,
Spybot, CW shredder and some of the stuff @ Aumha and a updated virus scan.
They found nothing, and I still get the popups. It starts out as a popup
with the single line address on the top. It is belgiandip.com with a bunch
of stuff after .com for a couple seconds then it switches to Ad-Microsoft
Internet Explorer with a blank page. It shouldn't, but it's driving me nuts
and I see a reformat in the near future.
Thanks....Dan

Did you update Ad-Aware's definitions before scanning with it? It needs
them updated even when just downloaded.

Yes, I clicked the check for updates now. There were none available.

Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/, and download Hijack This.

Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save
Log" button.
Press that, and save the log somewhere.

NOTE: Most of what Hijack This lists will be harmless, or even required, so
do NOT fix anything
yet.

Next, go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, go to the Browser Hijacking/Spyware Removal section, press "new
topic", explain your
problem, and copy and
paste the contents of the Hijack This log into your new message. You'll get
expert assistance in
dealing with your problem, and I can assure you that you'll be rid of it in
no time at all.

Thanks. I got to the spywareinfo forums area but didn't have any luck
registering. Maybe it will work tomorrow.
