Why does Defender not work against the 'Long slow road itch'
virus/malware/adware or whatever it may be called? My daughter keeps picking
it up and I keep having to clean up! It loads into the 'application data'
folder and reinstalls itself unless properly cleaned out. This time it has
arrive through a file from a friend. Some friend!

Thanks

Hello Dad:

Whole books could be written on what's going wrong here. The daughter's
system needs much more serious protection than just Windows Defender. A
very good antivirus application /AND/ a antimalware application needs to
be deployed. May I suggest the free Avira's AntiVir? Also the free
versions of MBAM and SAS are outstanding.

Later, if you believe they're doing a good job, upgrade to their paid
versions - or not.

Then, even with those in place, the daughter needs to increase her
knowledge of safe hex practices.

This is a constant effort with my own daughter. However, the attraction
to click on "pretty things" seems overwhelming to them.

Best wishes to you.

Pete
