pop up blocker turning off

we have a machine that the pop up blocker keeps turning off. all kinds of
windowns are popping up and we run spybot and adaware. I do not know what is
prompting ie to turn off the blocker. is there a setting somewhere? Our
other machines are working just fine with the blocker.

I suggest buying SpySweeper by Webroot -- $20-30 for a year and well worth
imo. Also, you can tell your machine is affected badly by spyware and
adware. Have you scanned with Adaware SE, Spybot Search and Destroy, and are
you using SpywareBlaster? The majorgeeks site is a fairly safe place to
download these programs and AFAIK the majorgeeks site has never been hacked.

Thanks, I just spent 3 hours with Microsoft removing a Mini 2.5 Commercial
Keylogger that someone had placed on the XP PRO. side of my computer in D:
drive in NTFS file system. The 98SE C: was still secure fortunately. BTW,
how can I change LinkSys settings and make the password the only way to gain
access to the router. TIA

Thank you. There are two popup blocker programs if you have Windows XP.
One wet within Internet Explorer, and the other in Windows XP.

For IE:

Have a very close look at this registry key:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\New Windows

Many dwords under that key control the pop-up blocker. If, for example, you
see the word PopupMgr, set to zero.

For XP:

To enable or disable the popup blocker, find the icon on the status bar and
right click on it which gives you the option to enable/disable the blocker.
You can enable/disable popups for certain sites rather than just arbitrarily
enable or disable them for all sites.
