Pop-up ads - NOT associated with web site

How do I block ads that are NOT associated with certain
web sites? So far I have gone to the properties of the
ad, copied the website associated with THAT ad, and added
it to my "restricted sites". Any other suggestions?
Thanks!

If you are getting frequent pop ups that do not seem
normal then you probably have a spyware issue. Download
Lavasoft Adaware, install, check for updates, and run a
scan. Chances are you have a good infestation. If you find
a lot of stuff, like more than 20 items, you might want to
follow up by installing Spybot S&D (Search & Destroy)
which usually finds things that Adaware does not. The

First eliminate any scumware.
See

Note that AdAware and SpyBot S & D will each catch some things the other
won't. Also, each needs to be updated before every use, even when just
downloaded. There's also a lot more to do than just those two programs.
CWShredder is also available here:

If trying everything at that site does not fix the problem please post back
in the same thread.
