pop up ad messages...

I was told that the xp, 2000 and one other program has
built into the system pop up ad messages telling you to
purchase a software item to stop all future pop-up ads.
Such as www.endads.com. Well...it is true...I get 25-30
within a 2 hour time frame. How do I get rid of
them...FOREVER ?

It's not built into Windows, they are spam from the internet that use
the messaging service that runs in Windows. The messaging service itself
is legitimate, it's just being exploited by the advertisers.

To eliminate them get a firewall installed on your PC. There is a
freeware one called Kerio Personal Firewall from www.kerio.com that is
very easy to configure and it will block the ports the spammers use.
Just read the simple instructions on how to make it learn which ports to
block or allow.
