png graphics looseing transparency!

Hi,

I've just upgraded my Photoshop 6 to CS and now when
inserting graphic's (png formated files) in to Powerpoint
slides I am loosing the transparency. The bit that was
previously transparent turns black.

Help is this a Photoshop issue or is there something I
need to change in powerpoint?

It all depends on how you are exporting the graphic from within Photoshop.

Try turning off the color management profiles in Photoshop. I run Photoshop
CS at the office, and I have no problems with transparency in PPT 2003 or
2000 there. (Been working with a *lot* of transparent PNGs there lately,
too.) But I don't use any color managment in Photoshop, either...

Photoshop's colour management is definitely the cause of this...it seems
that it tries to colour manage the alpha channel, which confuses PowerPoint.
Or something like that.
And helpful Adobe change how to deal with it in every version...
Even if you've got colour management turned off you may need to remove the
colour profile associated with the PNGs you've already created. In
Photoshop 7 you do this with Image>Mode>Assign profile, choosing 'don't
colour manage this document'. They changed this in CS but I can't check how
right now.

I just checked in Photoshop CS, and it seems to be the same --
Image/Mode/Assign Profile and choose "Don't Colo(u)r Manage This Document."
