PLZ HELP

No one here works for Microsoft, we all volunteer to help people on these
forums.
You need to contact HP support to determine how you restore the original
software to your PC, usually it's via a keystroke during POST to access the
system recovery partition, and your Vista product key is provided by HP and
is on a sticker on the PC, you will not need to provide this key during the
recovery operation.

Hi,
I fixed a neighbor's HP laptop last month by going to the HP website and
buying a set of Restore CD's. The price was $16 including shipping, and
they got here in 3 days.

My problem is with sp2.The installation is fine
everything is fine but when i restart my computer it takes about 5
minutes to log in and a blue screen commes up or my computer
restarts. And i buyed my computer with vista i reinstalled it to
windows xp pro i downloaded all the updates i need but it will
still not work and i have always the genuine problem with my
product id my dad has the same product key and he works fine but
just PLEASE HELP ME WITH SP2 IM TIRED OF SP1
With XP, you can't have the same product key on two machines (for a
single licence, which I assume you have). It might have been a
good idea to keep Vista, and give only a small portion of Hard disk
to Vista and rest to XP. It's easy to split up the disk in Vista to
make it a dual boot, and that way, if XP dies, you can still boot
up to Vista (or vice versa).

With Windows 2000, you can use the same Key on multiple machines
(not legal, but it worked). With XP, you'd have to buy another
copy of XP, which is about $150 at TigerDirect.

I know your original question was regarding "blue screen," but
there is not much use to install all your stuff just to find out
after 30 days that XP won't stop bothering you with messages about
illigal copy of windows on your machine.

i vbuyed my computer at dumoulin were they supposed to give me a cd
to reinstall vista if its infested of virus and a undetected
virus???
Not necessarily, you may have a recovery partition on the hard
drive or a utility to make your own recovery disks.
What brand is it? Read the documentation that came with the PC to
determine the restore method you need to use.

oh my god i have to read everything that came with it OH MY GOD ITS
LIKE A DICTIONNARY
God forbid you should have to do a bit of research on your own to
help yourself with your problem.
If your not willing to get the info you/we need to help you, then
good luck, I'm wasting no more time on this thread.

crazy frog,

I am in awe by the lengths of this post and tghe questions being
asked/answered. It's very simple.

You bought a computer (you say) from "Dumoulin", which I assume to be:
http://www.dumoulin.com/ and that computer is an HP branded computer and
came with Windows Vista. You installed Windows XP (because you couldn't
play your games or something) using a CD/product key/license that was not
available for you to use (it is in use by your father.)

What you have been told is that you cannot simply install Windows XP on
there without a proper (and unused) license - and you either need to
purchase a legitimate copy of Windows XP to install on the machine (given
that HP supports it in terms of drivers for Windows XP) or you need to put
Windows Vista back on it. You have been informed that if your machine came
with Windows Vista on it (and given the fact it is an HP) - it should have a
sticker on it with the Product Key you would use to install Windows Vista
onto the system. You have also been informed that it should have come with
a manual explainning how to return said system to its original condition (if
you have not overwritten that capability by installing Windows XP.)

You seem resistant to doing your own research/legwork to resolve your
problem. If you want someone else to do the work for you beyond answering
your questions - take it into someone who can fix it and expect to pay them.
;-)

At this point - you have a couple of things to do... First - contact
Dumoulin for help. They sold it to you - thay should be able to help you
(or one would hope.) All you can do is try - call them and find out.

They state:

Next - you should contact HP with the machine information and ask them how
you restore it to its 'as-shipped' state..
http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/wwcontact_us.html

That way you can figure out how to tell what your computer was supposed to
come with, what support you can get from HP, what you need to do and in your
case- what exactly you have I suppose.

As for it costing anything - call and find out. They cannot bill you if you
don't give them a way to and authorize a billing.
