Plextor combo firmware problems

Hi,
yesterday night I have upgraded the firmware of my Plextor combo
PX-320A, because of the slow reading speed I had noticed for dvd-r.
Upgrade was successful, but I had got other problems... Plextor couldn't
read the dvd.
On this morning I have tried to upgrade the same firmware of the
previous day, and I noticed that Plextor read dvd-r without any
problems, and it had improved speed.
Later, I have got the same problems, and now it can read only original
dvd, some branded Princo but not Verbatim's ones.
How do you explain this?

The absurd is that before upgrading the firmware it worked correctly
with all supports, it was only a bit slower.
Do you think that Verbatim 8x dvd-r by Mitsubishi chemical corporation
are good dvd-r?
Thanks.

not all media is cmpatiable with all drives...I would sugggest not
using the verbatim discs any more as it sounds like your drive isnt
reading them correcftly
the firmware upgrade could have caused this

Could the firmware upgrade prevent my Plextor to read supports it read
before the upgrade?
It's a bit strange, don't you think?
It read verbatim without problems before the upgrade, I cannot
understand this...
thank you very much.

Plextor was once a fine product; more expensive but built to last. A couple
of years ago, I bought a PX-716 UF external DVD burner, and had it replaced
within one year due to not reading or recognizing DVD's, & eventually CD's.

The second one lasted a little more than a year, and works OCCASIONALLY, yet
my first two Plextor CD burners, external SCSI drives, still work after 10
years.

Plextor's just are not worth the premium price anymore.
