Open to a folder with details view, press Ctrl/+ and see if the missing
columns reappear. This will work if some of the columns were hidden
behind other columns. You must use the "+" on the numeric keypad.

Try this, Alev:
Click Start> Run, type (or better, copy and paste):

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Click OK.

Does that change anything?

Joe,

Thanks, I tried that but that's not the problem. Basically when I go to
click View in the task bar -> then pick Choose Details, I only have a few
settings to choose from. I think my documents folder has been corrupted but
not sure how to fix the problem. The only details I am allowed to choose from
are Name, Size, Type, Date Modified, Date Created, Date Accessed, Attributes
and Status. I know that there should be more detail choices and Im wondering
why there are none and what could be the cause of this? A corrupted registry?

This is the same with the music folder. I have the same options as above but
I dont have the choice in the details menu of picking artist, album title or
genre.

So I dont know how to fix this problem or how it even occurred. Please let
me know if you can help any further or if anyone else can help.

Thanks
Alev :)

Thanks so much glee. This definitely helped. Do you know why the problem
occurred in the first place?

Cheers
Alev :)

I wouldn't begin to suggest the "why", as there are so many possibilities. Perhaps
a third-party software that had added to the list was later uninstalled, and it
corrupted the list. Even a hiccup during an update might have caused the list to
corrupt, or the .dll file to become unregistered.

Glad it worked for you.
