Please help with Antivirus

I downloaded Computer Associates EZantivirus on my PC running XP SP2 from my
DSL provider website. The download went fine, but the installation hung up
on an error "Setup.exe failed, VSINIT.DLL was missing." I found out that
VSINIT.DLL is some type of ZoneAlarm file, and I recently uninstalled
ZoneAlarm because its updates were not downloading correctly either. I
tried to install AVG free antivirus just to protect myself while I try to
figure out the setup.exe problem. That did not work either and I get error
messages about some .DAT files.

Please help.

I would try removing any Zone Alarm Folders from the Registry if
there. Just go to Start>Run type: regedit click Ok
Then Navigate to HKey_Curren_User\Software. Look for ZA folder there
and delete it. Same for
HKey_Current_Machine\Software. Also, do a Search for Zone Alarm. Click
on Search>All Files and Folders>Part or All of File Name. Just type in Zone
Alarm. Delete anything that shows up in the rt pane.

Try Avast AV .

Short but sweet advice! I have no experience of the CA AV software you are
attempting to install but I have used Avast for a couple of years and have
always been very happy with it so I'll second the recommendation.

Uninstall EZantivirus.
I found out that VSINIT.DLL is some type of ZoneAlarm file, and I recently

ZA left behind some associated detritus.

For complete removal try these apps.:
Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Remove unwanted programs and traces easily

RegSeeker

I tried to install AVG free antivirus just to protect myself while I try

Uninstall AVG completely.

Reboot, re-install EZantivirus.

Good luck :)
