Please help to disable password complexity...

Hi all,

I have disabled password complexity in win2k server but it seems to be
active still because it doesn't allow us to enter simple password and
prompting us that the password enter doesn't meet password complexity
requirements.

Please help.

Thanks in advance,
Garry

Are there other policies linked to the domain level that could have
password policies set? Have you tried resetting one user and see whether
the "old" password policy still appplies to him/her?

cheers,

Hi,

Was it set to enabled and you then set it to not defined?
If the value was already enabled, you MUST disable it not set it to
not defined.
If there is a value, the value must be changed and in this case it
should be changed to disabled from enabled
This is called policy tattooing and can really mess things up.
Also once the above is verified, check to make sure none of the domain
controllers are not having any replication issues.

As well like Florian mentioned verify that there are no other policies
above this one that might have the setting in place

Good Luck

Hi guys, thanks for your reply. As far as I know, i didn't set any other
policies apart from the password complexity and there is only one domain in
the network. One thing I noticed is under "security setting" column it says
"disabled" but in the "effective settings" column it says "enabled".

Regards,
Garry
