I would like to restrict access to edit/add records in my database. I.e I
would like to password protect a form or Switchboard. Is there any other way
to do this other then giving the database Read-only properties.

Yes but it involves invoking user-level security in MS Access. It is not a
trivial task and can be frustrating if you're new to it. Your first port of
call should be MS's FAQ on the subject. There's a link to it on my web site
along with a step-by-step example. Be warned, the FAQ has no filler
material and you should follow all steps in sequence. Be sure to back up
your files in case you lock yourself out.
