Please HELP...MAJOR ie window resize problem...

R

Reza

Hello everyone and thank you very much for taking your time to help me
solve my problem.

I am, you could say, a power user, in that I have been using windows
and explorer for a long time and have solved my problems myself or
reading help from this wonderful site.

Lately I formatted my pc, installed winXP home, SP2, Zone Alarm
Security Suite and MS Antispyware. After that NO MATTER WHAT I DO, I
can not resize the ie window to the size I want anymore.

I have spent about 3 days now reading everything on this and other
sites and have tried all the little gimmicks, tricks and registry
fixes suggested to no avail.

It used to be before that I minimized the windows to just a small
block and they all stayed the same afterwards. But now no matter what
I do they do not stay minimized anymore they either open maximized or
half size.

Any professional advise appreciated.

Reza.

There are three kinds of windows:
minimized - just an icon on the taskbar
normal - one teeny window symbol beside the X to close
maximized - two overlapped windows symbols beside the X to close

Which are you having trouble with?

There are three kinds of windows:
minimized - just an icon on the taskbar

Even that can be an insufficient differentiator for cases where
the window it represents is hidden or too small to be detected.

The best way to tell which kind of window you have is by using
the icon's Window menu, e.g. right-click it or navigate to it with
Win-Tab and press the Menu key. What does the menu show?

If it shows Minimize *greyed*, then the window is minimized;
otherwise the window is NOT minimized.

If the window is not minimized, the remaining menu items
can be used to determine what state the window is actually in
and what you can do with it.

normal - one teeny window symbol beside the X to close

in which case the Window menu shows Restore as greyed
and (usually) all the rest of the menu items available for use

maximized - two overlapped windows symbols beside the X to close

in which case the Window menu shows Maximize,
Move and Size all greyed and only Restore, Minimize
and Close active.
