Please help! I'm stuck!

I tried to password protect a folder in my web by following the steps:
Open the site
select the folder I want to protect and convert to web
Then I changed the subweb to use unique permissions
After all of this, it didn't work as I expected so now I want to convert the
subweb back to a folder, but it won't let me because it says the permissions
on the two webs don't match. So I go to the subweb to change the permissions
back to match the parent web, and I keep getting this error message:
Unable to set web /phpmyadmin to use the same permissions as its parent
because the Unix user and group ids for the two webs are different.
What do I do? It took me forever to FTP the data that's in this folder to
the website, so I don't want to delete it to start over.
Please someone help me.
