Please help I can receive but cannot send e-mail with Outlook 2007

I have a new ACER 7720g Laptop with Norton 360 as protection but no add on
pack i.e. anti-spam etc. I am the administrator. I installed Office Pro 2007
and configured Outlook automatically which sent a Microsoft test e-mail
successfully.

I have unchecked send imeadiately when connected, in the options because I
prefer to send the mail manually using the send all button. However, when I
tried to send a normal email it went into the Outbox in italics but clicking
send all does not send the message.

Send and receive progress settings show the send as completed but the mail
does not leave the outbox and has not been sent because it is a test to
myself and it is not received in my ISP inbox.

I have no problems with my XP system running office 2003 and the same ISP
and mail address. My ISP is Orange.

After all this I tried manual configurations which sends the microsoft test
mail but not other mails.

Has anyone got any ideas?

Thanks

I don't have 2007, but assuming it is similar to 2003, it might be that you
have not included this account in the "send/receive all". In 2003, tools
menu, send/receive,send/receive settings, define send/receive groups, tick
the box "include this group in send/receive (f9).

Hi John,

Thanks for your input. The send/receive settings that you suggest are
correct. When clicking send all I get sending/receiving completed at the
bottom right bar but the message stays in the outbox and has not been sent.

Open the item in your outbox, click the Accounts button to double-check it
is going out on the account you think it is.

Outlook Tools menu,Send Receive, then select send/receive on the account
above.

Hi Again,

I can't do what you suggest when I open the message I have no way of
checking which account it uses. However I only have one account anyway. What
I don't understand is why it sends the test mail but not others.

I have outlook 2003 on another computer and it is totally different to 2007.
If you have other suggestions I will be grateful to have them.

Thanks Again

Try deleting the account and try again.

Sorry, can't help much more. I did have Vista and OL07 on a machine for a
while, but soon gave up on it <g>
