PLEASE HELP: "HKU\.Default" settings do not apply themselves to new users

Hi All,

I'm having some problems with the regional settings with my users. I'm using
Terminal Services to share an application program which needs special
configuration in the date, numbers and time formats. Also, my users were
complainig that the keyboard layout in their Terminal sessions didn't
correspond to the ones they had on their PC's.

I was told in this forums that by changing the values in the registry branch
"HKU\.Default\Control Panel\International" to mimic the settings of a
correctly configured user, every new user would get the correct settings
instead of the default ones. But every time, the new user still gets the
default settings, no matter what.

I've rebooted the server and triple checked the values in the registry. What
can I do? Please help me!

Hi

I think you need to load the registry hive (ntuser.dat) for "Default
User" and apply the changes there.

(note that this will not change the setting for users that already have
logged onto the computer previously).

Here is how:

Start regedt32.exe.

Type "loading hives" in Regedit's help (under the index tab).

Load the Default profile (typically C:\Documents & Settings\Default
User\NTUSER.dat).

Under the loaded hive, change the settings you want.

Unload the hive.

Log on with a new user and check the result.

Thanks a lot, Torgeir.

That makes a lot of sense. I'll try it and I'll let you know if it works.

Again, thank you very much!
