I have not been able to get XP Professional reloaded properly--it just won't
seem to log me in properly. Even after writing 0's to my hard drive. It
seems to have to do with the subscription files.

In WBEM logs there are various errors such as: "unable to register even
source Service Control Manager on server Error code: 6B5", and "NT Even Log
Consumer: could not retrieve sid 0x80041002" and "Event consumer provider
is unable to instantiate even consumer NTEventLogEventConsumer="SCM Even Log
Consumer:error code 0x80041001",and Dropping even destined for even consumer
NTEventLogEventConsumer=SCM Event Log Consumer in
namespace//./root/subscription"

I also get an error message after installing Office XP Professional that " A
provider,OffProv10, has been registered in the WMI namespace, Root\MSAPPS10,
but did not specify the HostingModel Property. This provider will be run
using the LocalSystem account.... Ensure that provider has been reviewed dor
security behavior and update the HOstingModel property of the provider
registration to an account with the least privledgs possible for the
required functionality" I installed Office XP from the Administrator
account which is what I thought I was suppose to do???

I have been fighting this for months now. Could someone please help me to
get this thing to let me log on properly. I have reinstalled about 50 times
now and I must have this PC running correctly by tomorrow.

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Lori Ann,

If you want it running in 24 hours, backup your important data, format and
clean install everything. I doubt that you are going to be able to resolve a
problem that is months old in that short a time frame.

If you want to actually work on resolving the issue, please post back with
system specifications and some background on the problem. Things like how
long it's been going on, what events preceeded these problems, when
precisely the problems occur, what you suspect may be the problem as well as
why, what you have already tried, etc. This page provides some good
guidelines:

The problem is I already have tried reinstalling. I get the same thing each
time. I think there is some type of problem with permissions, but I don't
know enough to know how to correct it or where to start. It seems that it
just won't log me on properly. Ever since I installed Office I have had
this problem. I even tried uninstalling it and then reformatting and
reinstalling XP. I need to know what permissions to check so when I
reinstall, it goes correctly this time.

Hi Lori Ann,

Unless you are actually making manual changes to the permissions, they
should not affect the installation of Office. Are you running on a domain?
Or is this a home machine?
