playlists

For various reasons I think that I need to format my C
drive and reinstall windows Xp professional ... it has
become very flaky over the last couple of years. On my J
drive I have 40gb of music and the related playlists. If I
reinstall XP, call up all the updates and get back WMP9,
will it still recognise my old playlists or will I have to
recreate them all? That could be a nightmare job. As far
as I know, all available updates are curently installed
but Windows now has trouble starting WMP9, keeps losing
the icons in the taskbar etc. Using system restore hasn't
improved matters. Any help would be appreciated, Rab

Reading back thru the posts to see if this has been
answered before I see that I can download WMP again and it
will delete my old copy before installing itself again.
How will this affect my playlists?

You should be able to backup your playlists. You'll have to ask one of the WMP
experts to find out how.
