Playing .mov files?

I have gotten a .mov file but nothing I have seems to play it. Should I
get one of those applications they advertize on the web? If so, might I
have a recommendation for a basic 'vanilla' model without unnecessary
bells and whistles?

Thank you.

Oh. Quicktime. That's why it rang a bell. I have eschewed QT because
it took over everything, but perhaps I can force it to behave.

Thank you.
