Playing a DVD folder with VLC

The right-click menu for a video file in an XP folder includes the handy
options to Play in VLC or Add to VLC Playlist. They work fine.

I also get the options if I click a *folder*. But if I select one it
doesn't work. What I get is an Open With window asking me to select a
program. VLC is not on the list. (BTW, I have no idea what determined the
list; it looks very arbitrary.) If I then click Browse and select VLC, it
does not get added to the list. Nothing happens.

Yet if I add VLC to my 'Send To' folder and then use Send To > VLC, that
*does* play the DVD correctly.

Can someone offer any insights please? Should the r-click menu work on a
folder? If so, any idea why mine doesn't?

If I right-click a folder full of music in Windows, then click Play With
VLC, it plays the songs in the folder, one after the other. I suggest
you uninstall VLC including removing preferences, download the latest
version (2.0.1) and do a clean install.
