Ping with Beta 2?

I cannot ping the outside world with Vista Beta 2. I can ping inside my
home network, and can resolve web sites with nslookup but using ping it
just times out using names and IP addresses. Surfing the web there are
no problems. I tried turning off the firewall but no change.

Is this a bug in Beta 2 or is there something I can check on my system?
When I diagnose the network sometimes it says there are no problems
detected and other times it says error remote host DNS unavailable. I am
having a screen freeze problem when logging in with remote desktop at
work which may be related (it is not as bad using my IP address and not
connection name).

I am using the same Charter DNS servers on Vista (a desktop) and XP
(laptop). XP can ping just fine.

Could this be a router problem? I read somewhere that some routers
cannot handle Vista's new way of networking (SPI?). I am using a Netgear
RT314 which I realize is getting a little long in the tooth and does not
have a SPI option... :)

Thanks,
Dave

Hello,

Sounds like it may be a router problem.

Try this:

- Click start
- Type: cmd
- Right-click cmd.exe when it appears under Applications
- Click Run As Administrator
- Type the following: netsh int tcp set global autotuninglevel=disabled
- Press enter
- Restart your computer

If this fixes your problem, that is IS a router problem.

I did what you suggested but no change... :(
