"Equation Illustrator" in

Its link brings to
http://www.filetransit.com/view.php?id=4260
where I can't find a download.

The company page
http://www.mgcsoft.com/equat5.htm
shows only "Equation Illustrator V", which is shareware.

I googled a bit, all the links I've found redirect to the Company page where
for a short time I could read "freeware version has been discontinued", then
there is a redirect to the shareware version.

Thanks much for the heads-up Maria. :)

The app was released as both freeeq.exe and freeeq.zip - v 1.7.4.0 (Jan
04 2003) may be the LFW.

I found a download here:

http://yesterday.cdpa.nsysu.edu.tw/graphics/?C=M;O=A

freeeq.exe 02-Nov-2003 18:06 1.8M

http://yesterday.cdpa.nsysu.edu.tw/graphics/freeeq.exe
(1814 KB)

I don't know what version it is - didn't install it - please let me know
if you do.

Thanks to you for the attention :)

How comes you always find what I'm not able to? :)

It's Ver 1.7.3.0.
It's called "Free Equation Illustrator" but I'd call it "Crippled Equation
Illustrator": it has many severe limitations, like "Number of drawn shapes
limited to 1000. You will get a warning when this limit is reached for the
first time. Subsequent attempts will just fail to draw."

It's also clearly stated that it serves as promoter for the shareware
version. Neverthless is called "freeware" :-(

So I've uninstalled it.

I thought it was the other way around. :)

I tried an FTP search and got one link - a dead Tucows link. Then I
googled for: index freeeq - and found the good link.

Adding "Index" to a search is a *great* tip that was posted here a while
back. Index finds files *directories* and dramatically reduces the
number of "garbage" returns from a search. :)

I didn't know it, thanks for sharing :)
I'll keep it in my mind (age allowing...)
