Pictures in internet explorer

Does anyone know why most pictures on websites just come up with a white box
with a red cross in them? I have typed out a little bit of html and added a
picture from my hard drive onto it but the picture still only comes up with
the cross. Can anyone help????

In IE, go to the Tools menu and select Internet Options.
Click
on the Advanced tab.
Scroll down to the Multimedia section
and make sure the box “Show Pictures†is
ticked.
