Photo Story Sound Problems

Is there a way that the sound will come out of the computer speakers? It
seems to only work when I attach headphones to my computer. I did the test
for microphone volume and everything works when the headphones are plugged
in. In addition, the playback through the headphones is low. Is there anyone
that can help me? I have a parent presentation at school tomorrow.
Thanks.--Andrea

Do other sound files play correctly on your system?

Did you use the "Microphone Configuration" option?

Hold the microphone as close to your mouth as possible
and speak clearly and distinctly. Think of what you've
seen professional singers do when on stage.

I have done that and there is no sound at all coming out of my computer
unless the headphones are on. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

No sound at all?

Is it possible that your settings have been altered?
Try going to...Control Panel / Sounds and Audio
Devices...and be sure the 'Mute' is not checked
and the volume slider is on High.

Also check the speaker wires and be sure they are
firmly plugged in.

Thanks. I've done all of that John. I'm really at a loss here. It seems that
my speakers now aren't working at all...no Itunes either...

I always approach these problems by substitution. I'd borrow working
speakers from a friend to see if they work in my system. If they
don't, then the problem is in the computer and not the speakers.

My speakers use a small transformer. If yours do also, the
transformer may be burned out.

I also switch around plugs and wires. The outlet used for the speaker
transformer may be on the fritz. I have an outlet bar with one dead
outlet.

My computer has input jacks on the back for speakers, and input jacks
on the front for earphones. If the front ones work, but the back ones
don't, the sound card is good but the problem is in the back jacks.

It's sounding more like a hardware issue...Tony's
idea to try different speakers is certainly worth a try.

Also open Windows Media Player and go to...Play /
Volume....be sure Mute is not checked. You can toggle
it off and on by pressing F8. And you can increase the
volume by pressing F10.

Thank you all. I will try your suggestions. I'm thinking it could be sound
card issue as well. Thanks again!

One way to check your sound card would
be to go to Device Manager and see if it
is flagged.

You can launch Device Manager by going
to...Start/Run and type or copy/paste
devmgmt.msc
Then press enter.
