Photo Story 3.1 movies not transitioning right

I have been making movies through Photo Story 3.1 from Digital Image Suite
2006 for the past 8 months. I have a lot of transitioning such as crossfade,
etc between photos and all have looked great thus far. Last week, I finally
broke down and downloaded XP Service Pack 2 as well as other suggested
Microsoft critical security updates. 2 weeks ago, I also purchased a Western
Digital My Book external hard drive to back up my photos and other important
files. I have backed up several times thus far. I also upgraded a few days
ago to the new Windows Media Player 11.

Last night, I went to work on tweaking some of my Photo Story 3.1 movies and
once I saved them to .wmv format, when I played them in WMP 11, I noticed the
transitions were real choppy, not like before. I thought it was WMP11, so I
uninstalled that and it put back WMP10, which I had before. However the
movies are still playing back choppy. I saved the movie to a CD and played
them on another computer and they seemed okay. I even did as WMP10 and 11
suggested and dialed down the video acceleration, but that didn't help any,
if anything it made it worse.

Any ideas on what the heck happened to make the movies choppy now? I even
turned off the MY Book external hard drive to ensure it wasn't interferring
with anything and it still does it. Since I switched back to WMP10, I can
only presume that the XP SP2 or something messed with my computer video? They
worked before, but now are not working properly on my computer. Help!

I don't have a simple fix for you...maybe
the following info will offer some ideas:

Sometimes the projects are too complex.
I guess you know there is an image limit
of 300 but with lots of panning/zooming/
transitions/music...that number is reduced.

Maybe you need more RAM.

Increasing the size of your Virtual Memory
Paging file may help. The following article

Did you also install IE7? Might be worth
a try to uninstall it:

Thanks, John! No, I did not install IE7 as it's too confusing for me to use
(We have it at work and I don't like it at all). Anyway, I'm sure it's
something to do with my computer as it just all of a sudden started doing the
jerky transitions just a week ago and the same sized movies (about 40 that
I'm making) were just fine since October without any change in size or
content.

I did make a really short test movie and followed some advice in these
forums to download PapaJohn's and another's Photo Story 3 custom profiles. I
used the DVD profile of 780xsomething and the 1274x980 one. My movie only had
about 10 pictures in it to test it and it still took me 36 minutes to create
a DVD using NeroVision Express 2. BUT I was able (for the very first time) to
play it on not only my 15" screen computer, but a 19" TV and also a large 52"
rear projection TV with absolutely clear clarity and no jerking! In fact one
of the pictures was not good quality when played on my computer before turned
out almost crystal clear! I was amazed!!!! So it must just be my computer as
it plays okay on other computers. <sigh> Thanks for your help!
