Phishing

I was downloading a website yesterday and my phishing filter (in the
system tray) went on and on for a very long time. I clicked on this
and disabled it. The little logo has now disappeared altogether and
I want to get it back to have a general enabling function for
phishing.

Can someone please tell me what to do? I use Nod32 (ESET) as my
anti-virus program.

Cheers and thanks in anticipation!

Perhaps you just removed the shortcut to the actual program. If this is the
case, you find the program and create a new shortcut.
Finding the program is the hard part. It may be somewhere in the Program
Files folder tree or in the \Windows\System32 folder.

If you're referring to the Phishing filter built into Internet
Explorer 7, do the following.

Click on the Tools menu on the toolbar at the top of the
window.
Note: If you do not see the menu bar displayed at the top of
the window, tap the Alt key once to toggle the menu bar on.
On the Tools menu, move your mouse pointer down to Phishing
filter.
In the menu that pops out, click on "Turn On Automatic Web Site
Checking...".

Note: You can also right click on the box in the Status bar at
the bottom of the screen where the Phishing icon would be
displayed and access a menu that will allow you to turn the
filter on.

Good luck

Thank you for your help. I asked for a website today and the
phishing icon appeared!! But it didn't do it's phish! It was
actually ABOVE the system tray in the next bar, and I then clicked on
it and it asked if I wanted to turn the automatic detect thingie on
and I clicked that option.

It must have been there all the time and when I disabled it, it did
not go away altogether. Such a relief!

Thanks again.

I will print off your reply though to add to my small collection of
"remedies" just in case it happens again and doesn't come back!
