Phantom Email Addresses

When I enter email addresses for a "new" email, or for a "Forward", Outlook
2002 often suggests 'similar' email addresses that are totally unfamiliar to
me and do not show up in my Address Book or in my Contacts list. What is
going on here? Where are these addresses coming from? My machine is running
WXP Media Center, is completely up-to-date, and is regularly scanned with
security software. Has anyone else ever seen this phenomenon?

From messages you have replied to.
If you don't want one to appear select it and hit the delete key.

The addresses I'm referring to don't appear in my "Sent" folder (I just
checked all 1,328 sent emails). Also, none of these addresses are familiar
to me. Is Outlook retaining every email address listed in the header of
messages I've replied to, even if I only replied to the sender? Where can I
find them, so I can delete them all?

If you would prefer to remove all cached email addresses, then the .nk2 file
can be deleted, which is where Outlook stores them. The file is normally
located in C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application
Data\Microsoft\Outlook.

I opened the .nk2 file and looked through it until I began to find addresses
I didn't recognize. It appears that the few times I've used "Reply to all"
Outlook has cached all the addresses used. I've deleted the cache. This
will probably solve the problem. Thanks for the assistance.

For now it will but just remember that Outlook will repopulate that file.
