PFC Media - will it truly make PPT play anywhere (anyone used it?)

Hello all!

I've downloaded PFC Media and I'm excited about it! Has anyone used it
successfully? Please let me know! I need reassurance that it will really
work...

My supervisor wants to be able to play his presentations (with videos) from
a memory stick or CD on "remote" computers, and PFC Media should reformat the
videos so they will play on any computer with Powerpoint and Windows 95 and
up.

I'm so happy that this may work, but I am also nervous. If it doesn't work,
I will catch lots of flack.

So far, I like the program a lot! Has anyone else out there used it
successfully? Is there anything else I should be aware of (any other
potential variable) to be absolutely certain that my Powerpoint videos will
play on remote computers?

Thanks for the moral support!

I do trust the name! I'm just hoping that I don't run into the one instance
when this doesnt work. My supervisor will be very upset with me...

Thank you for those links! I am hoping this will solve our concerns and that
I will be a very happy PFC Media customer!

thanks!

Be prepared to have your supervisor upset with you then.

Stuff happens.

No matter how well you prepare, stuff happens.

Stuff is all the more likely to happen when you choose to rely on unknown
equipment. Your supervisor needs to accept that. And to consider improving
the odds by bringing along a laptop on which the presentation has been
well-tested.

If it's worth that minor inconvenience, it must not be all that important. ;-)

Chris,

As much as I would like to say it will work on every PC in existence I
can't. 99% yes, but not 100%. There are simply too many "unconventional"
PCs out there to make that claim. So far in our testing and feedback from
customers we have found exactly one client it did not work for. In that
case they were older PCs (95 and NT) that were locked down and have never
been updated at all and no updates are allowed. (Government installation
where security was top priority.)

I'll be honest here, if you are playing "bet your job" I would NOT take the
bet and would tell the boss if he/she wants absolute 100% certainty, take
the lappy along just in case. (Of course a lappy isn't always 100% certain
either. <g>)

Thanks everyone!

This is how I feel too - bringing the laptop is the only way to be
absolutely certain things will work. However, my supervisor would prefer to
travel without it.

He is convinced that as long as we tell the folks on the other end our
specifications, (Windows XP, Powerpoint 2002, Windows Media Player, etc) that
he should be able to play the presentation.

I think PFC Media will help us. To be safe, I'll also request that the
"guest presenter" computer have Powerpoint 2002 and Windows XP...(Would these
specifications "diminish" chances of failure even more?)

thanks for all your help!

99.9% I would say. Nothing is 100% perfect. ;)

And if they pay no attention to the specs and set up whatever they happen to
have handy? If he doesn't believe that'll happen, send him my way with some
bettin' money in his pocket. I'm gonna make a mint off this guy. ;-)

Reality is ... is ...

Well it just IS.

And he ain't gonna like it.
