Permissions on Limited Accounts

Lori A. Kuiper

I need to set the permissions on Limited Accounts to allow my scanner
applications to create a temp file on each user that it uses when a scan is
performed. It works fine in the Admin Account but not on the Limited
because it will not allow the application to create the temp account on the
drive.

I know that I saw post with step by step instructions on how to do this,
but I cannot find it.

If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it. I do not want to change
the Limited Accounts to Admin Accounts just to be able to use the scanner.

I am running Windows XP Professional.

Hi Lori,

To change permissions in WinXP Pro, you must access the security tab of the
properties of the folder in question. To do this, first you must disable
"simple file sharing" on the view tab of folder options in the control
panel. Once accessed, you need to give the limited user account write
permissions on that folder.
