permission denied when offering remote assistance

I am the administrator for a small network on a windows 2k domain. All the
machines are running Win XP SP2 and I have been using the "Offer Remote
assistance" facility for the last 10 months to solve any problems without
leaving my workstation. However, recently my computer for some unknown reason
(no, new installations etc) has started throwing a permission denied error at
me every time try to offer assistance. It doesn’t even appear to try it as
throws the message as soon as I click the button.

I have been google-ing for hours but all the problems covered don't seem to
be related. There is also another admin in my dept who can still perform the
operation with no problems.

Any Thoughts?

Nice thought but i don't think it can be related. No policies have been
changed and both my machine and i sit in exactly the same groups as the other
admin here who has no problems.

I personally think it is related to my machine poss a registry entree or
somthing. i just don't know what.

any more ideas?

Have you tried running gpresult from the command line on both your and your
colleague's computers to see if there's any difference?

I'm still suspicious of the "Offer Remote Assistance" policy setting.

Good luck,

Paul

I have run GPresult and compared it to the results of the other IT admin to
see there is no difference. Also if i log onto his machine i am able to offer
assistance.

Can sombody please help with this one cos it's driving me nuts!

I have disabled the firwall and searched MSKB articals to find nothing!

You've snipped out all the old text in this reply so it's hard for anyone to
know exactly what the issue is.

Oh yeah, all the machines have always been running SP2 as long as it has
been avalible, although i cannot see how this would make a difference as like
i said, it works on the other admins machine.
