PerfectDisk 6.0 defragger hangs when rebooting

Paul Somerson

I am using PerfectDisk 6.0 to defrag. However, defragging of
"unmovable" system files has to be done during booting before these
files open. The problem is that my PC hangs at the boot screen and I
have to restart manually. When I restart in normal mode, I can get
into Windows but apparently without any defragmentation.

Anyone else had this problem? Couldn't find any useful information at
the product's knowledgebase.

thanks

Most all "Defrag" programs depend on the fact that the volume
is clean (No Cross-linked files, et). If you are having problems
with BootTime Defrag then do a Chkdsk C: \R from the Run
prompt. Hopefully, after the disk check the BootTime defrag
will run as expected.

Thanks R. McCarty for replying to my posting. I have already tried
chkdsk c: /f several times, but the defragger still hangs.

Any other suggestions?

thanks

Have you tried contacting Raxco's Tech Support? They offer good
support and that'd be the logical place to go with this type of
problem.
