Hi all,

Myself and my associates are stumped. We have a client that has the
following setup:
Windows XP Pro Machine - 'Server'
Windows XP Pro Machine - 'Workstation1'
Windows 98 SE Machine - 'Workstation2'
All machines have thier own dial up connection. All of a sudden on Monday,
the two 'Workstations' could not connect to the 'Server'. Whenever the 98
machine tries to reconnect the mapped drives it asks for a password. The
workstation XP machine says it doesn't have the proper rights to connect.
As of last Friday everything was working as it has for the last year. We
have tried everything. Cleaned spyware, ran virus scans, installed SP2 and
any new updates on the XP machines. We have tried turning Simple File
Sharing on and off in XP. There are no firewalls on and no router (they are
using a switch). The 'Server' can send files and access shares on the 98
machine but not the XP 'Workstation'.
Sorry for the long post. If anybody has any ideas or need more info please
ask. It's hard to explain without writing a book.
Thanks in advance
Mike

Hi, sorry I cant help you, im sure someone else can, but FYI, if you are
connecting to a server then you are not using Peer to Peer networking. That
might make answering your post a bit difficult by others since they are
being misinformed.
