Peer to peer limitations on shared folders

I have a customer who has 12 workstations in a peer to
peer enviroment, running a combination of Win XP and
Win2000. They essentially run one of the workstations a
sa "pseudo" server, sharing a common data directory for
users, although not all 12.
Simple questions as I think they should be moving towards
a server based enviroment. Is there a limit on peer to
peer file sharing. That is can they have an unlimited
ammont of users sharing a common folder on a single PC?

Thanks

XP PRO and W2K PRO have a limit on the number of concurrent
connections from other PCs to its (F&P) resources: 10.
The limit is based on the PC count, not on the resource count.

Hi

I don't think there is a limitation on shared folders
directly however I do think there is a limitation on
shares in general. IE. folders, printers etc.

Hope this helps.

I think you're right about moving to a server based environment,
because there is a limit. This Microsoft Knowledge Base article has
the details:

You might like to consider a NAS device as a lower cost option for shared
folders.
