The computer is a Dell Optiplex GX270. I have a PCMCIA card reader
(lack for better words) installed in one of the PCI slots of the
Mother board. This card has two slots, same as many laptops. The OS
installed is Windows XP Pro with SP1 and all Hot fixes up to today's
date, including proper Intel Chip set drivers. (Intel 836 chipset)
Here's the Issue; I formatted the drive and reinstall Windows XP. The
card worked perfectly before the format. I was not the original tech
who installed the card. Now, the OS picks up the card and installs
the Texas Instrument drivers. However, when you insert a PCMCIA card
into one of the slots, the computer doesn't detect it. When I check
the Event Viewer, every few minutes an error appears stating a problem
with the PCMCIA card reader. I did a lot of reading and asked a lot
of techs for any insight of this issue. One tech suggested upgrading
the Intel Chip set drivers, since that would have been removed with
the format of the computer. I also read there was power conflict with
the drivers of the Intel chip set and the drivers for the Card reader.
So I upgraded the chip drivers, it had no reflection on the issue.
On the card itself, there is no indication of what model or make it
is. Completely blank. There is little info on the net regarding this
issue. I only found on posting in Google groups, this was the chip
driver suggestion.
If anyone has any ideas, suggestions, theories, experiences that might
help solve this issue, it would be greatly appreciated.
