pcmcia firewire card

i am using a laptop running windows 2000 and i have
purchaced a pcmcia firewire card(ibm) and tried plugging in
an external firewire harddrive(bus powered) into the
firewire port but it doesn't seem to do anything.




now, this external hard drive is also compatible with usb
and when i plugged it into the usb port it was detected no
problem.




is it the card that is causing the problem (even though it
is detected) or is it the external harddrive? or is it
both?

i think it is the card...did windows just install a genaric windows driver?
or did you install it with the drivers that it came with (or downloaded from
the net)? if you have installed drivers then im guessing that the card might
be faulty....does any other firewire device work on the card?

theres some idea's to think about
